About Fire EMS 290

The Fire Service of our nation is older than our naton itself.

Founded in 1736 by Ben Franklin in Philadelphia, men and women have organized in their communities to protect their families, friends and those whom they never met prior to emergencies and disasters.

These Domestic Defenders have largely been volunteers but have evolved into career Firefighter/EMS across the nation. Serving as the Backbone of communities across America, they represent the 'heart and soul' of our nation!

It's time that we acknowledge, endorse and expand support for these unselfish local heroes. Following the Bi-Partisanship Leadership initiated in Republican controlled Congresses and White Houses, the Assistance to Firefighter (AFG) Program was created in 2001 and SAFER Program created in 2003 with overwhelming bi-partisan support.
